Things to see and do near Moon Bay Pennekamp Park. About a mile south of Moon Bay on the other side of the road. Take the glass bottom boat or better yet, take the snorkel boat. Both go to the coral reef. Take the board walk through the mangroves. Rent a canoe.
Everglades National Park... You will pass the road to the Park in Florida City as you drive to Moon Bay. Stop at the Visitors Center and then the Gumbo Limbo Trail. Unless you are a serious naturalist you need go no farther. Combine this with a stop at the Outlet Mall.

Key West... Most guests enjoy a drive to Key West. Take the Conch Train (tram) ride in Key West. A bit expensive .($25.00) Do not miss the Sunset Celebration on Mallory Pier. I suggest you leave Moon Bay early and stop for breakfast on the way. Have lunch in Key West and have dinner on the road on the way back to Moon Bay. Key West is only two hours away, but eating at restaurants on the water is fun. The scenery to Key West is spectacular. You will travel over bridges with the Atlantic Ocean on your left and the Gulf of Mexico on your right.
Activities...
I hate jet skis but to my grandkids they are the high point of the trip. You can rent one a few hundred yards south of Moon Bay. They also have parasail rides. ($39.00) You can also rent kayaks just south of Moon Bay....
Try fishing from the Moon Bay pier. You should find all the equipment you need in the second bedroom closet. You can make up bait from stuff in the refrigerator. Or, go to the Yellow Bait House for real bait.
Take a charter boat and fish for the "big" ones. Not cheap.
If you are only semi interested in fishing, there is a party boat that leaves from Holiday Isle. Half day is $35.00. Ask me for a discount coupon.
Try your hand at tennis on the Moon Bay courts. There are tennis racquets in the same closet. There may or may not be tennis balls depending on what the previous guests did with them. You can buy balls at K-Mart. There is a basketball hoop. Bring you own ball. There is a small 12 volt air compressor in the second bedroom.
Spend a day at Ann-s Beach. Around MM 72 ocean side. Take the cooler from Moon Bay and pack a lunch. This is one of the better beaches in the Keys. You will find ice packs in the freezer.
You may consider driving to Miami Beach and spend the day on their world class beach. Bring a picnic lunch in the Moon Bay cooler if you want to save $. Have lunch on South Beach is you want to splurge.
Rent a boat on a calm day and take a trip to ocean side through Adams Cut. Adams Cut is a short way to the ocean and Europe. I do not suggest going to
the reef in a small boat with a family unless you are an experienced seaman. Ask for my handout on boats.
If you can do a fifteen mile bike trip they can get within touching distance to wild alligators. Let me know if you want more information. You can also take a tram.
